The country was ablaze with news of an alleged bomb going off at Glorietta 2 in Makati last Friday.

Once again Twitter proves its worth as people started delivering updates real-time. I was in school at that time and so I had no other means of getting updated with what’s happening besides my trust cellphone which receives Twitter updates real-time.

At first they said it was an LPG Tank leak that caused the explosion, then other speculations started rising minutes after.

People said the blast was so huge that it rocked the three floors of Glorietta and shattered the roof. At first I thought that was minor. I thought the roof just cracked or something until I saw these pictures (courtesy of this site):

If you’re guessing that’s a huge gaping hole at the activity center where the roof’s supposed to be, then you’re guessing right. The freaking roof FELL!

I dare say it: If an LPG tank can do that much damage, then we might as well classify these tanks under highly-dangerous materials!

What’s more shocking than the explosion itself, where around 10 people died and 80 more were hurt, is how people have so quickly tagged the word “politics” into this dreading tragedy. And I’m not talking about Anti-government elements at all.

It’s a tragedy, for crying out loud! What did our President say when first interviewed by the media? “I warn those who seek to exploit this incident to destabilize our government for their selfish political motives.” All I can say is, WTF??!

You know what, you can’t blame people for their cynicism because we all know this isn’t the first time something like this happened. You can’t blame them for their paranoia because more than 800 people have extrajudicially been killed by this government alone. You can’t blame them if they’re scared because a little more than 20 years ago, someone also used this kind of tragedy to impose a rule that will forever haunt us all.

So sue us people for thinking this is your ploy, GMA. So sue us for not feeling secure under your illegitimate rule. So sue us for blaming you for every bad thing happening in this country.

Because the truth to the matter is, you still haven’t given us enough reason not to. So until then, sue us if we think like this.

But still, the question remains: whodunnit?

An aside: I was kinda worried why my mom wasn’t checking on me, knowing she’s the one who’d always check up on me when things like these happen. So, instinct kicked in and I texted her to check if she’s okay, since she works just a block away from Glorietta 3: (baligtad na ang mundo ngayon)

JM: Mom, musta dyan? May bombahan daw ah…

MOM: Jom, andito ako sa Makati Med…

JM: *flabbergasted* *hitit ng hangin*

MOM: (continuation of her text) ...JOKE! Pauwi na ko! Hehe

Okay, I love my mom so much but that is just plain crrrazy!! Haha.

Poor are those who are affected by the bombing. Nakakaawa talaga. All of them are innocent, so I can’t see a decent reason why this has happened. I hope justice will be grasp as soon as possible.

Hmmm. I find your mom cool. I can see myself at her because I can scare people off as well. LOL. Kidding aside, she must be careful in making those kind of jokes since not everyone buys that like you do.

  2. JM says:

@Dan haha she’s a kiddo like that, so that’s fine with me. Haha.

Honestly, more than seeking justice, I’m looking for reason. Coz I can’t make much sense of this tragedy and everything that’s happened after it.

ay kung LPG yan, everyone’s a terrorist.

    Kinabahan ako sa nanay mo!

A lot of stuff broke out after the incident. One, some senator blamed PGMA (and he’s now investigated according to the news). Someone called Alex Santos (anchor of TV Patrol) and said that he bombed Glorietta 2. He gave numbers for the anchor to contact. When TVP called, another person answered. Just awhile ago, chemicals were said to be the cause.

The aftermath is intense. Even people here in Cebu do not go to malls that much anymore.

(Sorry for the bloggish-length reply. And oh yeah, do you receive Twitter messages for free?)
